Placement prep is mostly noteswith code nobody ran. So wewrote free courses where everysample is compiled and tested.
01 / Before
Notes nobody ran
Origan prepares engineering students for placements from first semester to the final drive. Much of the free material they find shows code as screenshots or snippets that were never compiled, so mistakes travel with it.
The Open Shelf is the free half of Origan: open to anyone, no sign-up, made by VeraStack Labs.

02 / Build
Every sample is a real file
Each code sample lives as a file that CI compiles and tests before a page goes live: cargo test for Rust, plus a rustc check on every Playground link; javac -Xlint:all -Werror with assertions for Java; tsc --strict for TypeScript, where every line marked as an error is checked by its error code.
Lessons share a chapters sidebar that stays put while the article swaps, and interactive steppers for binary search, BFS, heaps, HashMap buckets and narrowing. The stepper works by keyboard and screen reader, falls back without JavaScript and respects reduced motion, and its steps are verified against the real code.

03 / Result
Three courses, all free
Oxidise (DSA in Rust), Filter Coffee (Java Collections) and The Switch (JavaScript to TypeScript) are complete, with Off the Syllabus adding stand-alone articles on the web and its tools.
It ships as a static Next.js site on GitHub Pages with Course and LearningResource structured data, llms.txt and IndexNow, and scores 100 on the VeraStack AI search check.

// Highlights
Compiled, not pasted
Rust, Java and TypeScript samples are real files that CI compiles and tests before a lesson ships.
Errors checked by code
Every line a TypeScript lesson calls an error is verified against the compiler by its error code.
An accessible stepper
Keyboard, live region, a no-JavaScript fallback and reduced motion, with steps verified against the real code.
Free and open
No sign-up, no paywall: three complete courses and an article collection on the web.
